Taking inspiration from Medieval tapestries I create my own mythology within urban landscapes. In this painting we see a girl effortlessly riding her bike  through a nocturnal cityscape. Taking the components of mille-fleur (thousand flowers) designs in the background, these floral arrangements are inspired by weeds and plants you would see walking on a sidewalk or empty lot in most east coast cities. Introducing a twist, bear traps, typically used for comedic effect in Looney Tunes cartoons, add an element of threat rather than humor. Amidst this juxtaposition of fear and danger, the girl on her pink-tasseled bike exudes a serene resilience.
